Water's necklace.

Its a common combination that we've all heard of, that water and oil don't mix. However, in this piece, water and oil mix to produce a striking, gem-like quality to the image. The natural formations of the oil on the water, whether my the artist's design, or coincidence, do indeed give the illusion of a necklace like piece.
I was also struck by the use of colour in the oil droplets, particularly those of larger size. The graduation of amber, magenta to a deep blue and back the a more moderate pink provide an excellent contrast for those smaller 'bubbles' around. The light blue gives a feeling of an 'edge' for the necklace, and indeed makes it seem more necklace-like.
In using the simple combination of oil and water, dragonfly-oli has given a new and creative perspective on a once mundane combination.
