I want to unite all of these lovely artists. Please share what makes you special. Why do you love your kind of art? What art do you do? What is your passion? Share your personal story. Introduce yourself! I will start so that you can see what I mean..
I am Olivia, 21 years old and I am from Germany.
When I got a little digicam in March 2010, I never thought I would want to continue photography, but when my granddad died in April 2010, I realized that life is too short to let it simply happen, but also too long to remember every part of it. A photograph would capture the feelings, the moments, the thoughts behind these moments. And that was when I started photography.
I worked hard in summer 2010 to achieve my biggest goal: I bought my first DSLR. It is the only DSLR I ever had, and it still works great, although it looks like an old grandma now (many scratches): my Nikon D5000.
Of course every artist has to find his kind of art for himself, and so I started spreading my interests. First I totally was into Portraits, but I quickly knew this would not be the sector of photography of my preference. Then I tried out landscape photography. It was great to use the 18mms of my kit lens, but I did not know anything about composition, so my landscapes looked quite dull. Additionally, I never found any great locations.
Then, in February 2011, I found my first ladybug. I always liked them, since I could put them on my finger and help them fly away. Additionally they were tickling so nicely. So I thought: You tried so many sections of photography, why don't you try the macro section? So I tried to catch the ladybug in the best macro-way possible. Of course kit lenses cannot achieve a great magnification, but then I realized the bokeh, and fell in love with it immediately. I still love bokeh and try to always use it in my images.
So what makes me special? I think it is my passion, my will to create a new world. I want to make people see what they normally cannot see. The little things in life people oversee or things people do not even notice because they only look into the air, where the birds fly. Or look into their phones, because they got a new facebook notification. I want to create my own little fairytale, and I invite every watcher of my pictures to dream with me. I want to make a little flower a special guest in my fairytales. I want to show the beauty of nature. And I want you all to realize the beauty in nowadays world.
I hope you will enter my challenge. Be positive, and praise your positive traits!
