I am very sensitive concerning the use dead animals in art. I lead a vegan lifestyle, and I know that many people won't hesitate a second to kill an insect in order to take a nice, or at least an "easy" picture of it. I already asked people on dA whether they actually killed the animal for a specific shot, because sometimes it seems most unlikely that an animals lets you approach to a certain distance. And some people simply do kill them. Which you obviously did not do.

From a moral perspective, the only thing that person could blame you for is not standing up and help the poor thing out, not for taking pictures of it. By creating a compelling picture of a dead animal, you simply raise compassion in the hearts of people. And by burying its dead body, you show extraordinary respect that very few people show, especially towards insects.

Maybe in school, I would not have stood up either. But I hope on day, when you're in a similar position, you will stand up and help. Blaming you was easy for that person, and did nothing but harm, so it was wrong.
